For food businesses, cutting out food waste means improving efficiency and boosting profits. Top food-waste issues facing businesses include:
- Money is trashed through wasted labour, energy and increasing landfill costs
- Space for food waste is limited and unpleasant odours emanating from businesses with high food waste can be off-putting to customers
In a plan to address some of these issues, Mosman Council has initiated a food waste reduction trial in partnership with the EPA to assist local businesses serving food to the public (conditions apply).
