Council secures parking, road improvements from B-Line

02 August 2017

Mosman Council has successfully negotiated an additional 30 public parking spaces in the former cinema site as well as $1.8m funding for a range of active transport projects from the State Government’s B-Line project team.

A new garden, trees, seating and a paved pedestrian area will also be constructed where Clifford Street will be closed to enable the indented B-Line bus stop at Spit Junction.

“These projects would not have been able to proceed without this funding and Council is delighted to be able to bring some positive news to our residents from the changes brought about by the construction of the B-Line facilities,” Director Environment and Planning Craig Covich said.

“The additional 30 car spaces which we have secured will be conferred by Council for use as public parking in the former cinema site at Spit Junction.

“B-Line will also provide Council with $1.8 million in funding for active transport projects that have a nexus to B-Line and the Spit/Military Road corridor, including a shared zone in Civic Lane which will connect Clifford Street to Military Road, pedestrian refuges and improvements for pedestrians and cyclists in Spit East.

“Council is also mindful of retaining public amenity in the impacted areas, so the creation of a new garden, trees, seating and a pedestrian area at the end of Clifford Street will also be a welcome addition.”
