Library joins Mosman's Garage Sale Trail

14 October 2016

Avid readers will be able to bag a bargain during the national Garage Sale Trail event which is being held for the second time at Barry O’Keefe Library.

On Saturday 22 October between 10am and 4pm, the library will join people participating in garage sales across Australia with new and pre-loved books on a wide range of topics and genres priced from just $2.

With 10 garage sales already registered in Mosman on the day organisers are suggesting residents visit the library as part of the sale trail and pick up a great bargain.

“Garage Sale Trail helps build community by encouraging residents to meet their neighbours while benefiting the community,” Manager Library Services Linda Horswell said.

“Mosman Library Service is keen to see our books reused through the community so it was a natural fit to once again get involved with the trail.”

Now in its sixth year, Garage Sale Trail is an Australia-wide initiative with more than 10,000 garage sales happening around the country. Each participant’s sale is pinned to a national map for people to search and add to their shopping Treasure Trail.

Now participating for the third year, previously through grants and this year by providing financial and promotional support, Mosman Council has found the event an effective platform to inform residents about reusing household items and to reduce materials going to landfill.
