Library upgrade proves popular17 April 2015
Mosman Library reopened to full services on Monday 13 April after two months of building works to improve accessibility and customer service.
Visitors queued at the door as the main library reopened with 1000 visitors – double the usual numbers – returning 1900 items and borrowing 1500 items.
The upgraded foyer includes new toilets with an improved disabled toilet and baby change facilities, a separate returns room for library books, a new customer service desk, increased casual seating and new furniture in the Children’s Library.
“The new foyer is more open and welcoming with the smaller customer service desk designed to improve customer service. Feedback on the first day was very positive with library users commenting favourably on the open entrance and new furniture,” Linda Horswell, Manager Library Services said.
“The removal of the returns function from the Customer Service desk allows library desk staff to provide more one-on-one customer service.
“The new toilets are also welcome. The improved disabled toilet and baby change area will be very popular with parents of young children.”
