Memory Park playground officially opened

19 July 2018

Memory Park playground has been officially opened by Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan following its upgrade to include a range of modern equipment to cater for children aged up to 12 years old.

The centrepiece of the park is a new multi-level seven-metre high fort featuring slippery dips and climbing apparatus – the first of its kind to be installed in Australia.

Youngsters are also catered for, with toddler equipment and a play area with rubber softfall and new swings among key attractions.

Landscaping improvements have also been carried out, including new furniture and a turfed picnic area, as well as pathways with sandstone walls and stairs blending in with the park’s natural surroundings.

“I was delighted to officially open our upgraded Memory Park and to see first-hand the high quality work that has been carried out to create this thoughtfully designed and landscaped playground,” Cr Corrigan said.

“Council staff listened to community feedback on what residents wanted to see in Memory Park and came up with an impressive array of equipment for crawlers through to 12 year olds, including a unique seven-metre-high fort which is the only one of its kind in Australia.

“The upgrade has already proven a big hit with our young residents and their parents with dozens of children climbing, swinging and sliding on the new equipment at any given time.”

The project follows the successful upgrade of Memorial Park playground.
