Monday Matters – a series of monthly talks at the library

Healthy Brain Ageing – Monday 9 April at 10.30am

As part of the Mosman Seniors Festival, Monday Matters at the Barry O’Keefe Library will present a special session developed by the Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association in partnership with Alzheimer’s Australia. The session will advise on how to reduce the risk of developing dementia.

“Over 400,000 Australians are living with dementia, and this number is expected to increase,” Librarian Jane Roughley said. “Dementia is the second leading cause of death after heart disease”.

Dementia cannot be prevented or cured, however leading a “brain healthy” lifestyle will reduce the risk.

The session will cover the brain and how memory and thinking change with age. Symptoms and risk factors will be discussed and attendees will learn the five simple steps to maximise brain health.

Monday Matters is a free event. Bookings are essential. Telephone 9978 4091 or visit
