Mosman Christmas Gift Appeal opens19 November 2015
Mosman residents are being encouraged to again share the gift of giving this holiday season by donating toys and books for the Mosman Christmas Gift Appeal.
While gifts for children aged from 0 to 12 years are welcome, donors are being encouraged to focus on providing gifts for older children aged from 9 to 12 years, including children’s novels, educational games, art and craft sets, sports balls, science kits and beach sporting goods, due to a significant shortage of gifts for the age range.
Gifts can be placed under the Christmas tree in the Council foyer from Monday 23 November – Tuesday 15 December 2015 for donation to The Smith Family’s Toy & Book Appeal and distribution to disadvantaged children in Sydney metro and regional NSW areas.
The national education charity’s annual Toy & Book Appeal aims to gather 36,000 new toys and 23,500 new books to deliver to disadvantaged families across the country. For more information please go to www.thesmithfamily.com.au/christmas
More than 140 toys and books were donated to the Toy & Book Appeal by Mosman residents last Christmas and The Smith Family’s CEO Dr Lisa O’Brien said the charity was “extremely grateful to the members of the community – including Mosman residents” for their generous contribution.
The Mosman Christmas Gift Appeal provides an opportunity for residents to connect with and participate in community life.
