Rapt - Winners

Rapt 2015 Christmas decoration competition winners

18 December 2015

Rapt has become a festive tradition in Mosman’s business and retail precincts, attracting a record 81 business entries in its fifth year and for the first time including residential categories.

The joint initiative of Mosman Council and the Mosman Chamber of Commerce, which is proudly supported by The Mosman Daily, saw businesses and retailers along the main Spit Road and Military Road strips, as well as in Bridgepoint, Avenue Road, Vista Street and Myahgah Mews shopping areas joining in the festive spirit this year.

Mosman Mayor Peter Abelson congratulated the winners and commended all those who entered as well as the Chamber of Commerce for its tireless work: “Council has been very pleased to partner with the Chamber yet again to deliver the Rapt 2015 competition”.

The winners of the business categories for RAPT 2015 are:

Aija – Best Overall Display

  • Box seats for 5 people at an upcoming Sydney FC game from St George Bank (valued at $250)
  • Dining voucher for a seafood platter for two people and a bottle of Beach Hut wine at Mosman RS Club (valued at $104)
  • P&O Cruise $500 voucher by Cruiseabout Mosman and P&O Cruises

Buena Vista Hotel – Best Lighting Display

  • Bowls and canapes for 10 people by Warringah Bowls Mosman (valued at $300)

Petite Retreat – Most Sustainable Display

  • $300 voucher to Fish and Co, the Sustainable Seafood Café in Annandale.

“Judging the overall winner for best display was a difficult choice, given the variety of displays and the record number of entries this year,” Mosman Chamber of Commerce and Mosman Council judges said. “We were impressed with the originality and simplicity of Aija’s display and the clever reuse of materials to produce an earthy and sophisticated celebration of the Christmas season.”

The difficulty in choosing business category winners was illustrated in the number of entries receiving highly commended awards this year. The judges said: “The recipients of highly commended awards variously impressed us in their use of lighting, their overall design concept and delivery, and their approach to sustainability”.

The recipients of the commendations of the business categories for RAPT 2015 are: Belle Property, Born to Party, Bridgepoint Shopping Centre, Curve Boutique, Floriade Mosman, Jo Malone, Mosman Art and Framing, Mosman Needlecraft, Papaya, Pond Home, Savoir Faire, Signarama Mosman, The Classic Cupcake and Wild Orchid Lingerie.

The winners of the residential categories for RAPT 2015 are:

25 Prince Albert Street, Mosman – Best Residential Property – Lighting Display

  • $250 voucher for lunch or dinner at The Public Dining Room, Balmoral
  • Taronga Zoo one day family pass for 2 adults and 2 kids (valued at $129.60)

According to the judges this property is a real show-stopper: “We loved the fantastic coordination of colour and light across the wide frontage of the property and on the house itself. Everything in this property comes together to create a sophisticated and spectacular lighting display amongst the many other beautiful displays along Prince Albert Street”.

1 Prince Albert Street, Mosman – Best Residential Property – People’s Choice

  • Fourth Village Providore Christmas hamper (valued at $200)
  • Taronga Zoo one day family pass for 2 adults and 2 kids (valued at $129.60)*

Mosman Council and the Mosman Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the entrants for their participation and the businesses who generously donated prizes for the Rapt 2015.
