Night works on Military Road, Spit Junction

Posted Thursday 08 March 2012

Downer EDI, on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), is undertaking road maintenance on Military Road between Dalton Road and Bond Street at Spit Junction.

This essential work involves road resurfacing and line marking to provide a stronger, more durable road surface, improving road safety.

Work is expected to be completed by Friday 16 March 2012, weather permitting. Approximately nine night shifts will be required to complete this work.

To minimise traffic disruptions the majority of work will be undertaken at night. The section of road undergoing maintenance will be partially closed Sunday to Friday from 8pm to 5am, to ensure road worker safety.

Due to machinery movement restrictions, on-street parking will be temporarily affected during the course of these works with the establishment of a sign posted work zone area to allow parking of essential road maintenance machinery. The affected work zone area is posted on Military Rd between Civic Lane and Field Lane.

There will be noise associated with this work, however every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on residents.

During this work, motorists are asked to follow the signs, including reduced speed limits, and to follow the direction of traffic controllers. Minor delays are expected due to changed traffic conditions.

RMS and its contractor Downer EDI apologise for any inconvenience this night work may cause and appreciate the patience of residents and motorists.
