Give your batteries a second lifePosted Monday 30 April 2012
This humble cardboard box in the Council foyer has already diverted 67 kilos of e-waste from landfill this year.
We placed the e-waste recycling bin in the Civic Centre to allow for easier, everyday recycling of small e-waste items such as household batteries, MP3 players, portable game consoles and small GPS units.
You won’t be surprised to learn that household batteries have been the most popular item in the bin.
Instead of storing your batteries until the next e-waste collection, why not drop them off with us when you’re passing Spit Junction? Recycling your batteries has a significant impact. It prevents hazardous materials such as lithium and mercury from entering our landfill site and allows metals and plastic to be reused in new batteries.
Thank you to those who have already used the service and to those busy collecting items to recycle!
The e-waste recycling bin is in the Civic Centre foyer. Look for the Mosman Council offices on Mosman Square, open business hours Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm.
