Post-Olympics call for Mosman Sporting Wall of Fame nominations

Posted Tuesday 04 December 2012Mosman Sporting Wall of Fame

Do you know someone that has been selected and/or represented Australia as an athlete in an international sporting competition at a senior or junior level? Do they live or have they lived in Mosman? They may even have been to the recent London Olympics.

There have been many outstanding achievements in the international sporting arena by individuals in the local community and we need you to let us know about them!

Mosman Council is calling for further nominations for inductees to the Sporting Wall of Fame.

The Mosman Sporting Wall of Fame, located at the Mosman Swim Centre, 90 Vista Street, is an initiative of Mosman Council. It was officially unveiled on Wednesday, 17 December 2003, by the then Mayor of Mosman, Cr David Strange. Etched on the wall are the names of athletes who have been selected and/or represented Australia in an international sporting competition at junior or senior level and have lived or are presently living in Mosman.

The striking glass wall, designed by artists Roger Apte and Warren Langley, combines imagery of selected sports – cricket, rugby, swimming, sailing, athletics and rowing – with the shoreline and major roads of the municipality.

Nomination forms are available here online from the Council website or by calling 9978 4106. The form can be completed either by the athlete or by a representative.
