Council held a successful public information meeting at the Civic Centre last night when the Mayor, Director Community Development and Chief Financial Officer explained the State Government’s integrated planning requirements, the Council’s forward financial plans, infrastructure works and the 2013/2014 draft Budget.
Mayor Peter Abelson also explained to those present his views that TCorp had got the Council’s financial position wrong, and his reasonings, which he supported through the use of the Council’s balance sheets and operating statements. Councillor Abelson questioned why on one hand TCorp said the Council’s position was ‘weak’ but it was one of only five out of the State’s 152 Councils that had a ‘positive’ outlook over the next three years.
