Visiting parklands at Spit West has just become a lot more fun for kids. A fabulous new pirate-themed play structure is now open, incorporating soft fall, fencing and surrounding landscape works. The new equipment and other works built at a cost of $135,000 was chosen following community consultation, with its maritime-inspired elements being the clear winner with local children.
As part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of local sportsfields, Council has also lodged a Development Application with the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust to improve floodlighting at Middle Head Oval. The upgrade, anticipated to cost $250,000, will be partly funded by the Mosman Swans Junior Australian Rules Football Club through a $40,000 grant received by the Club from the Department of Sport and Recreation.
Annual renovation works including re-turfing, drainage system maintenance, top dressing and wicket square leveling at local sporting fields were also completed in September in preparation for the summer sporting season.
