The Amazing SpitPosted Friday 05 September 2014
Sunday 31st August saw local families racing around Mosman participating in the Inaugural Amazing Spit event. Based on the Amazing Race, teams went in search of the yellow and black clue tube, found at 8 checkpoints around the suburb. Teams caught buses, rode the Mosman Rider, walked, ran and even cycled their way from Spit Junction, to the Spit, to Balmoral and Georges Heights and beyond. Challenges were varied with families dressing up, getting their hands dirty, creating artistic masterpieces and even participating in a little treasure hunt.
Congratulations to the “Mighty Munros” who were the first team across the finish line, and took out the winners title with 266 points. The Munro Family moved between all checkpoints by riding bikes, clocking up a total of 17km in just over 3 hrs. No mean feat considering the hilly terrain they conquered. Team Rosling came in a close second place on 260 points.
Thank you to all the teams who participated in this event. We hope to see the event continue to grow over the coming years.
A huge thank you to Responsible Runners, Go-Get and all our volunteers for running checkpoints on the day, and for the generosity of GoGet in donating the winning prize. The day would not have been a success without your support.
