The band comprises of girls from Years 9-12 playing a variety of brass instruments accompanied by a piano, drums, electric and bass guitars. Each year they play for numerous functions at school and also a number of events for the local community.

Pippy Clegg from year 10 says “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our skills and love of music in the ‘Out and About’ concert series. We get to perform with friends, doing something we love, in a fun and supportive environment… what more could you want?”

Holly McNaughton, from Year 12 shares “I am so excited about this concert as it will be the last time I, and all the other Year 12s will be playing with the Queenwood Jazz Band. I have loved being part of this ensemble and the music we play always brings brightness to my week!”

The band director, Mr Tim Crow, says that “the Queenwood Jazz Band have been rehearsing all year and are looking forward to performing for their local community.”

After a brief interval Mosman High Jazz Ensemble will take to the stage with their ‘Set of Swing’ which features a variety of Jazz standards from the great Big Band composers, such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, James Doyle, Joern Harris and Harry James.

Coming after a performance at the Thredbo Jazz Festival 2014, where Mosman High Jazz Ensemble were the only school band to perform amongst the likes of Australian Jazz greats such as Mahlia Barnes, Monica Trapaga and Bob Barnard, the Out & About Concert Series allows the Mosman High Jazz Ensemble to play for their local community.
