Out & About Concert Series Grand Finale!Posted Wednesday 15 October 2014
Enjoy a sunset picnic dinner at Balmoral and unwind after a busy week to the sounds of orchestral music by the Mosman Symphony Orchestra who will be performing at the third and final Out & About Concert on Friday 17 October, from 6.30-8.30pm.
Mosman Symphony Orchestra has performed in the area for the past 22 years, bringing a mixture of classical music to the community. The orchestra consists of some 50 players covering the instruments including; Strings, woodwind, brass and percussion. The orchestra members come from a wide variety of backgrounds including; school students, adult amateurs, music professionals and teachers, all united through a love of orchestral music and the desire to share it with a wider audience.
For this performance, the Orchestra will be performing music from world renowned composers such as Mozart’s Symphony 10 in G major and Vivaldi’s double Trumpet Concerto, which features William Sandwell and Richard Sandham. William Sandham is a student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and this is his first time performing a concerto with an orchestra. Richard Sandham has twelve years experience in the music industry back in the UK as a performer, conductor, arranger and composer covering a wide variety of genres including, jazz, big band, brass band, wind band, classical and chamber music.
After a brief interval the Symphony will close the Concert Series with their popular version of Bizet’s famous opera ‘Carmen’, with narration by author and flautist, Jacqueline Kent.
This concert concludes the Concert Series which included performances by Queenwood Jazz Band, Mosman High Jazz Ensemble, the Royal Australian Navy’s Admiral’s Own Big Band and the Admiral’s Own New Orleans Group.
This is a picnic style event so please bring your own chairs, rugs, refreshments and warm woolies.
