Foreshore areas remain protectedPosted Tuesday 01 December 2015
The State Government amended legislation on 27 November to extend the temporary exclusion of Mosman’s foreshore slopes from provisions of the Codes SEPP for another three years. Mosman’s temporary exclusion was due to expire on 30 November 2015. This means business as usual for development assessment in Mosman. Land on the foreshore slopes will continue to be excluded from allowing development as Complying Development, such as new two storey houses or alterations and additions.
This continuation of the status quo will ensure that detailed development assessment is undertaken and neighbours will continue to have the opportunity to make submissions on applications and their concerns considered by Council. This is particularly relevant on the slopes where views, overshadowing, privacy and appearance from the harbour are important considerations.
Council will continue to work with the State to ensure this significant land around the harbour is protected from inappropriate development. For any development enquiries please contact Council’s duty planner, Joe Vertel on 9978 4172.
