Hawkesbury shelf marine bioregion assessment – suggested management initiatives
The Marine Estate Management Authority (MEMA) is assessing options to enhance marine biodiversity conservation in the Hawkesbury Shelf marine bioregion while achieving balanced community outcomes, including opportunities for a wide range of recreational and commercial uses. The bioregion extends from Newcastle to Wollongong along the coast.
MEMA has developed eight (8) suggested management initiatives to enhance marine biodiversity conservation and help reduce priority threats to the environmental assets and social and economic values and uses of the bioregion. These initiatives are detailed in a Discussion Paper which also outlines the process, the evidence that was considered, and the outcomes of the threat and risk assessment.
MEMA is seeking the views of the NSW community on the eight initiatives. Have your say using the online submission form.
Further information can be found at the NSW Marine Estate website.
Submission deadline has been extended to Sunday 8 May 2016.
