The following matters were considered at Council’s May meeting held on Tuesday 6 May 2025.
Mayoral Minute - Recruitment of General Manager
Mosman Council’s General Manager, Dominic Johnson, has announced his retirement following nine years of service. His last day at Mosman will be 1 July 2025 and the Mayor outlined a Mayoral Minute to consider the process for recruitment of Council’s next General Manager.
Mayoral Minute – Royal North Shore Hospital
The Mayor outlined the need to write to the relevant NSW Ministers and the Premier urging further dedication of land and floorspace in the precinct surrounding Royal North Shore Hospital for healthcare purposes, recognising the significant increase in population expected as a result of the state government’s recent town centre density changes.
Special Event Management Policy
Council has reviewed the Special Event Management Policy that guides the approval and management of events in Mosman. The Policy will be placed on public exhibition for feedback and comment.
40km/h Streets – High Pedestrian Activity Area Investigation – The Esplanade and Military Road
Proposals for speed reductions from 50km/h to 40 km/h on The Esplanade and Military Road, from Spit Junction to Centenary Circle, will be submitted to Transport for NSW after modification and endorsement from Council. It follows a community consultation process, with residents and businesses providing feedback.
Updates on Domestic Waste Management and Climate Action Plan – Mitigation Strategy
Council continues to monitor industry adoption and plan for the introduction of FOGO in the coming years. Our Climate Action Plan – Mitigation Strategy is also updated and monitored regularly to track Council’s progress towards addressing Climate Change and Resilience.
NSW Housing Pattern Book Planning Pathways
Council has provided a submission to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) in response to consultation on the NSW Housing Pattern Book Planning Pathways. Council does not support several aspects of the proposals outlined in the DPHI Discussion Paper. The changes outlined in the Discussion Paper are the latest in a series of measures DPHI have implemented to increase housing across the state.
