COVID-19 and Council services

Mosman Council is following the NSW government’s announcements about potential opening dates for our facilities and we look forward to opening more of our services and facilities once we are able to do so.

In the meantime, in accordance with the NSW Health restrictions and stay at home orders in force, Council offices and community facilities are currently closed until further notice.

Barry O’Keefe Library, Mosman Art Gallery and Community Centre and Community Services

Barry O'Keefe Library, Mosman Art Gallery and Community Centre, Mosman Square Seniors Centre and Mosman Youth Centre have closed. All on-site activities and programs at the facilities during this time have been cancelled while some activities have been moved online. Please refer to each facility's website for more information.

Mosman Library Service has begun a Reserve & Collect Service, allowing members to reserve up to four items from the online library catalogue. Find out more.

Mosman Community Care is continuing to deliver support services for elderly and more vulnerable residents. For essential services including Mosman Meals, Community Transport and Telephone Support, call Mosman Community Care on 9978 4128 Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

Other essential services

Waste collection services will continue as normal while tree management and permits are being handled as usual with physical distancing measures in place.

Due to the current health advice and to ensure the safety of staff and residents the e-Waste event scheduled for 29 August was cancelled. Residents are asked to delay disposal of e-waste items.

Council rangers are on duty and will continue to assist the NSW government and police in reminding residents to observe the NSW government’s physical distancing rules which are available here. Residents who are concerned that people may be breaching the NSW government’s physical distancing restrictions can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Duty Planning

Council’s Urban Planning team’s duty planning service is available Monday to Friday 8.30am to 10.30am and can be accessed by calling the duty planning number 9978 4214 or visiting and clicking on the Ask Joe tile.


The Council meeting on Tuesday 5 October will be held remotely and will be closed to the public however the meeting can be viewed online. The Agenda can be viewed online. If you have any submissions or questions (maximum of 200 words) relating to Agenda items only which you wish to be considered at the meeting, email them with your name and street address to no later than 5pm on Monday 4 October. Questions are only accepted from Mosman residents and ratepayers. There will be no open public forum prior to the meeting.

Public areas

Council has reintroduced its COVID-19 Outdoor Public Spaces Action Plan 2021-22 to assist staff in managing popular local beaches and major public spaces during the pandemic. Rangers and COVID Safety Marshals will be visiting beaches and other popular public spaces to monitor the areas and educate the public about current NSW government public health orders.

At this time parks, playgrounds, outdoor fitness stations, ovals and beaches remain open for exercise purposes in line with directions issued by NSW Health.

Floodlights will be on at Allan Border Oval, Balmoral Oval and now Middle Head Oval from 5.30pm to 8pm weekdays to allow additional time for exercising.

COVID check-in requirement expanded

All workplaces and retail businesses are required to use the Service NSW QR code system from Monday 12 July. Those affected must display the QR code and take reasonable steps to ensure people entering the premises check-in.
