From the Mayor - 23 September 2026
Balmoral’s beautiful heritage Rotunda will host a community rally on Sunday 11 October to support keeping HMAS Penguin in public ownership. The rally, commencing at 11am, will build on the sustained ongoing advocacy from Council, local stakeholder groups and the Mosman community who form a united front in recognising the exceptional environmental, heritage, cultural and community significance of this precious land to Mosman, Sydney Harbour and the nation.
We’re looking ahead to a wonderful celebration of our local area when Festival of Mosman: Encore kicks off on 22 October. Six free events across six days will give our community plenty of opportunities to come together and enjoy activities throughout Mosman.
Festival of Mosman: Encore is held in the alternate year to our main Festival of Mosman, bringing a vibrant program of events to the community. It begins with the SpringFeast Night Market on Thursday 22 October, followed by a two-day Street Party at Mosman Junction on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October. Songs & Stories will be staged at Headland Park on Sunday 25 October, Art Unleashed will bring Mosman Art Gallery alive after dark on Monday 26 October, and the much-loved Children’s Fair will provide a great finale on Tuesday 27 October. Check out the Council events website for all the details. I can’t wait to see you there.
Our work on long-term strategic planning has reached another important milestone following Council’s unanimous endorsement of the draft Mosman Masterplan and a draft Affordable Housing Contributions Scheme. These proposals have been lodged with the State Government. If approved, the community will have another opportunity to review the proposals and provide feedback during a formal public exhibition period before any final decisions are made. Council will continue to keep you informed throughout this process.
October will also see Mosman turning pink for Pink Up Mosman, a wonderful Mosman Chamber of Commerce initiative supporting the McGrath Foundation. I was delighted to join the Chamber for the launch and hear from Tracy Bevan, CEO of the McGrath Foundation. Our local businesses are an important part of what makes Mosman such a strong and connected community, and Council is pleased to work in partnership with the Chamber to support initiatives that bring our community together for a great cause.
