From the Mayor - 25 June 2025
As we begin the new financial year, Council is in a strong position to continue delivering the services and programs our community expects and deserves. Through prudent financial management, Council continues to operate in surplus and has a clear pathway towards achieving long-term sustainability whilst also planning exciting new future projects.
In response to community feedback, new events and cultural initiatives are being planned to support a more vibrant nightlife in Mosman. At the same time, our continued focus on heritage, the urban tree canopy and sustainability, supported by targeted strategies, studies and programs, will ensure we are well positioned to address future challenges in both our built and natural environments.
Mosman’s much loved heritage is set to receive a further boost, with Council awarded a $25,000 grant under the 2025-2027 NSW Heritage Grants Program. Owners will be eligible for financial support for sympathetic restorative maintenance works or re-instating original features to heritage items and properties within heritage conservation areas. Property, housing affordability and development continue to be hot topics across Sydney. Here in Mosman, the implications and impacts of the state-wide planning reforms on low and mid-rise housing are still unfolding and Council’s priority remains focused on keeping the community informed. The strong level of interest is reflected in the multiple enquiries Council receives each day on this matter. Visit Council’s website for more information or, for specific enquiries, book an appointment with Council’s Planning Advisor.
With mid-year school holidays just around the corner don’t forget Council has a terrific variety of holiday programs and events. For information go to

I have previously taken the opportunity to highlight the immense contribution General Manager Dominic Johnson has made to Mosman, however with Dominic finishing up at our July Council meeting, I wanted to again acknowledge his dedicated contribution to our community. Recruitment for the role is well underway, with interim arrangements in place to ensure Council operations continue to run smoothly.
Thank you and farewell Dominic.
