From the Mayor - 28 May 2025

Posted on Wednesday 28 May 2025

In our ongoing commitment to enhancing communication between Council and our community, we are inviting residents to provide feedback on our new Community Engagement Strategy, which will inform and guide Council on how we connect with residents in meaningful and inclusive ways. You can have your say online at yourvoicemosman.com.au or visit us at our pop-up stall at Mosman Market on Saturday 7 June from 10am to 12pm.

At our upcoming June meeting, Council will review and consider community feedback as it endorses MOSPLAN, our 10-year strategic plan. MOSPLAN is our foundational document that sets out Council’s commitment to recurring key priorities as well as exciting new projects like the redevelopment of Middle Head Oval Pavilion and highlights longer-term projects such as a new Mosman Community Hub and Library.

Huge congratulations again to the Allan Border Oval Pavilion team as the accolades keep coming!  The project is a finalist in the 2025 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, the Architizer A+ Awards, and was a 2024 Architecture MasterPrize winner. Designed by Tomek Archer of Archer Office, it is a highly practical and aesthetically beautiful addition to our community character and community facilities.

Pivotal to all these results has been our General Manager Dominic Johnson. Dominic has led Council’s executive team and staff with distinction since 2016 and has played a fundamental role in supporting Council to deliver excellent community outcomes and strong fiscal management.  Sadly, I have accepted Dominic’s resignation, effective 1 July and advise that the recruitment process has commenced to find his replacement.  On behalf of my fellow Councillors, I sincerely thank Dominic for his outstanding service to Mosman and wish him and his family every happiness in the future.

This month, I encourage residents to take part in two wonderful community events. The Men’s Health Expo Day (‘Blokes of 2088’) on Tuesday 10 June, 9am–1.30pm on the Village Green – a relaxed event promoting health, mateship, and movement. Then WinterFeast Night Market on Thursday 26 June, 4.30pm–9pm in Mosman Square and Village Green – a community favourite. Find out more at events.mosman.nsw.gov.au

I will be away for a couple of weeks straight after the council meeting in June, but rest assured, Deputy Mayor Michael Randall will be holding the fort during my absence and I look forward to seeing you upon my return.
