Rediscovered masterpiece
A major work by artist Imants Tillers, Aftermath I, 1997, now adorns the wall in the Council Chambers at Mosman Civic Centre thanks to the generosity of local residents and philanthropists Sally and Reg Richardson AO.
Tillers is one of Australia’s most iconic artists who works between Mosman and Cooma.
He uses his signature canvas boards to explore themes relevant to contemporary culture, in paintings juxtaposing layers of imagery and text drawn from many sources of influence and inspiration.
Sally and Reg Richardson have been long-term supporters of Mosman Art Gallery, and also recently supported the acquisition of work by First Nations artist Thea Anamara Perkins, on view at the gallery as part of the Curlew Camp exhibition, showing until 17 August, which also includes other work by Tillers.
