In 2003, Julia competed at the World Rowing Championships in Milan, winning the gold medal in the Mixed Coxed Fours. She was a member of the Australian contingent which took part in the first adaptive rowing events to be included in the World Championships.

At home in the Australian Rowing Championships, Julia was National Champion in Adaptive Sculls in 2004 and 2005.

She has also won an adaptive skiing silver medal in the slalom at the New Zealand National championships.

NSW Sportsperson of the Year with a disability in 2003, PLC Sydney school rower of the year in 2004 and recipient of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award for her community and sporting achievements, Julia is currently training for the 2008 Beijing Paralympics in rowing.

At the NSW All Schools Championships, she has won the shot-put, discus and 100m sprint.
