Australian Olympic Athletics Team
Ross ran his first races at Gordon Public School. He attended Shore High School and became a regular member of the track team. He attended Sydney University where he was a member of the Sydney University Athletics Club while he studied for a Bachelor of Economics.
He was selected to represent Australia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games in the 400m hurdles, winning his heat (as shown in the photo).
He captained the Australian Universities Athletic Team on a tour of New Zealand in 1958.
He was the 400m Hurdles Champion in New South Wales in 1957, 1958 and 1959 and the 400m Champion for New South Wales in 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959.
In more recent years Ross has volunteered on such international events as the World Junior Athletics Championships and the Sydney Olympic Games.
Ross was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
