As a Shore student, Tony Whybrow represented his school as a coxswain in five GPS Regattas: the 2nd IV in 1952 and 1953, the First IV in 1954 and 1955 and finally the Senior VIII in 1956.
In 1961 he was selected as Coxswain of the Australian VIII for the New Zealand Rowing Tour. The Australian Team comprised all Mosman residents and Tony was competing with Barclay Wade and Gary Herford.
He went on to have a career as an international airline pilot but maintained his love of the water, serving as an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve for forty years.
