Rugby League, Rugby Union

Brian's Rugby League career began in primary school. He went on to play Rugby Union at Newington College and, after leaving school, played first grade for the St George Rugby Union Club.

At the end of his first year at University he was transferred to the St George Rugby League team. While at St George he won three second grade Premierships and one first grade Premiership and was understudy to Reg Gasnier.

He then transferred to South Sydney for four seasons where he played in three first grade Grand Finals. They won in 1967, 1968 and lost to Balmain in 1969.

In 1968 he played in the Rugby League World Cup-winning team for Australia as a winger.

Brian may have retired but his three sons - Dominic, Justin and Julian - have all been keen sporting participants.
