John Fletcher

Snowboarding

From 1997 to 2000, John Fletcher competed in the Junior Snowboard Championships as part of the Australian Junior Snowboard Team. During the years from 1999 to 2001, John also competed in the World Cup Snowboard Tour for Australia.

At the age of 18, John was the 1999 International Snowboard Federation Combined Junior World Champion. Fletcher then went onto become the Australian Snowboard Champion in 2000.

In the same year, John won a silver medal in a World Cup Snowboard Cross event in Ischql, Austria. Snowboard Cross is a specially built course that includes banked turns, jumps, waves and terrain where riders race against each other in groups of four to six.

In 2001, John won a bronze medal in a World Cup Snowboard Cross event in Sapporo, Japan and finished the 2000/2001 World Cup Snowboard Cross Tour ranked 11th in the world.
