Peter FitzSimons grew up on a farm at Peat's Ridge, 80 kilometres north of Sydney, the youngest of seven children.
He attended Knox Grammar and studied Arts at Sydney University.
He played for the Wallabies in 1984, 1989 and 1990. Between 1984 and 1989 he spent five years in Europe playing rugby in Italy and France.
While in France he was officially rated as the number one second rower in the country and was asked to naturalise so as to play for France's national XV.
He returned to Australia in 1989 rejoining the Wallabies.
He is now a journalist and TV personality as well as being a best selling author. He has written 14 books.
