Courageous Conversations - Free event for young women!
On Monday 3 December from 6-8pm, Mosman Youth Service welcomes Lucille Shackleton, an Australian author, speaker and founder of the education and empowerment initiative Mem Valora. Supported by Mosman Youth Service Lucille will facilitate an evening workshop for young women in Courageous Conversations – supporting young people to communicate authentically and open up lines of communication with their friends and family.
Lucille has worked in the mental health and community services sector in Australia, India, South Africa and the United Kingdom. As an educator Lucille is passionate about teaching emotional literacy and aims to provide young people with the tools to understand and process emotions in healthy ways. Courageous Conversations is an evening dedicated to supporting young women’s self-worth, providing a safe space to express and validate emotions.
Youth Development Officer Bec France said the workshop will be a valuable part of the Girls’ Inclusion Project being delivered by Mosman Youth Service.
“A core task of our service is to offer programs that develop young people’s resilience as well as offering a sense of belonging in the Mosman community. Our Girls’ Inclusion Project involves targeted support for young women to respond to issues raised by them. Many young women ask us how they can support a friend who may be having a tough time, and this workshop will give tools to start those difficult conversations”.
Bookings for the workshop are essential, to register visit Eventbrite at bit.ly/girls_only. For more information contact Mosman Youth Service on 9978 4013.
