Oval Management Hotline

A recorded message provides latest information – phone 9978 4136.

All user groups should phone the Hotline before each training session and game.

This service provides information on whether sporting fields are open or closed for approved bookings for training and games.

The closure of sporting fields provides optimum playing surface conditions for players throughout the season given the different usage patterns and weather experienced.

Sporting fields may also be closed for maintenance purposes; eg. top-dressing, weed spraying, irrigation works; or when the weather is fine but the grounds are considered too wet for use.

Current oval closures are displayed on Council’s Works and Alerts website. During bad weather this page is updated at 7am and 2pm daily. If no outages are displayed, then all Council ovals are open.

Mosman Annual Ovals Renovation

The sporting fields in Mosman are very heavily used year round by a variety of different sports, schools and user groups. Each year in September Mosman Council undertakes a repair and renovation program on its sports fields. The works include restoring ovals after heavy use through the winter and prepare them for summer users. Programming works in September each year also takes full advantage of the spring and summer growing seasons. This allows turf surfaces to matt and bind as strongly as possible. This in turn helps the fields better withstand the heavy use through the next winter season. The works include fertiliser and herbicide applications, returfing, top dressing, irrigation system checks and drainage system renovations and improvements.
