Disability Inclusion Action Plan
Council is currently developing its second Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP).
The DIAP is a four year plan that details the strategies and actions being undertaken by Council to enable people with disability to fully participate in all aspects of community life.
Council undertook consultations with people with disability, carers, family and community members, and service providers in March and April 2021 and involved Council managers and staff in May 2021 to help shape the practical steps that Council will take over the next four years to make Mosman a more inclusive community for people with disability.
Following Council consideration in October 2021, the draft Plan will be available through public exhibition for further feedback.
Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21
With Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21, Council is committed to making our community more accessible and inclusive of people with disability. It has been prepared in accordance with the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and with community consultation and engagement, particularly with people with disability. The Plan sets out Council’s actions to support inclusion of people with disability. It builds on Council’s Access Strategy (2014) and Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (2012).
The Plan covers four main areas:
- Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
- Creating liveable communities
- Supporting access to meaningful employment
- Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes.
