Alcohol Free Zones
Mosman Council is authorised under the Local Government Act 1993 to use alcohol free zones (AFZs) and alcohol prohibited areas (APAs) to prohibit alcohol consumption in public places to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime. AFZs apply to road related public areas (such as public roads and footpaths) and carparks. APAs apply to non-road related public places (such as beaches, parks and reserves).
AFZs must be established by resolution of Council and have a duration of a maximum four years and may be established for special events (such as New Year’s Eve celebrations). APAs may be established to operate at certain times of the day and for special events.
