Gallery trainee honoured in local government awards
The achievements of Mosman Art Gallery trainee Keira Grundy have been recognised in the 2023 Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government.
Ms Grundy won the Young Achiever’s Award – Metro, announced today (4 October) at NSW Parliament House.
The awards recognise the accomplishments of inspirational women in local government across NSW, with the young achiever’s category honouring outstanding women aged 25 and under who are undertaking traineeships or apprenticeships in the sector.
Mosman Art Gallery Director John Cheeseman said Keira was a well deserving winner of the highly sought-after award.
“Keira exemplifies all the best qualities we look for in a trainee – she displays initiative, is hard working, pays attention to detail, is community minded and brings a youthful energy to her job and the work of the Gallery team,” he said.
Ms Grundy attended the ceremony to accept her award, alongside family, gallery staff and Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan.
“It was an unexpectant surprise, and I am extremely grateful,” Ms Grundy said.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year, especially Kelly (McDonald), John (Cheeseman), all the staff at Mosman Art Gallery, and Mosman Council for endorsing this traineeship.”
Mayor Corrigan said Miss Grundy’s achievement highlighted the success of Mosman Council’s Cadetship and Traineeship Program.
“The program provides students with practical workplace skills in competitive industries and supports young people beginning their career journey,” she said.
“Congratulations to Keira and the team at Mosman Art Gallery who have fostered an environment to facilitate this outstanding achievement.”
