International Day of People with Disability

Posted on Thursday 18 November 2021

As part of Mosman Council’s celebration of International Day of People with Disability on 3 December, Barry O’Keefe Library is hosting three special online events on Zoom for adults and children.

On Thursday 2 December 7pm-8pm, Carly Findlay OAM will discuss her latest book of which she was editor, the acclaimed Growing up Disabled in Australia published by Black Inc Books. More than 40 writers with a disability or chronic illness share their stories of negotiating disability in their own words.

Carly will be in conversation with Therese Scott from Mosman Library Service.

On Friday 3 December we are proud to host two wonderful storytellers in a morning and afternoon session for children.

For children we have Meagan Pelham from Studio A, an organisation that provides professional development to artists with intellectual disabilities. Meagan will be reading some of her short stories and will conduct a fun craft activity, 10.30am-11.30am.

Megan Taylor is a vision impaired storyteller who will be sharing stories and explaining how she reads with her fingers to children from 4pm-4.45pm.

Free events but registrations are essential: events.mosman.nsw.gov.au
