Mosman Council’s response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Mosman Council has cancelled or postponed a number of events as a precautionary measure for community safety following Federal Government advice that events with 500 or more expected attendees should not take place.

“Council is actively monitoring developments as the wider response to Coronavirus unfolds and has a number of contingency plans in place to ensure the continued wellbeing of our community and staff members,” Mosman Council General Manager Dominic Johnson said.

“We have already made the decision to cancel our monthly Saturday and quarterly night markets which may attract large numbers of visitors and, with the wellbeing of our older residents in mind, will also be suspending Community Restaurant gatherings and lunchtime concerts in the Mosman Square Seniors Centre from the end of this week until at least the end of May 2020.

“Further services and events are being reviewed on an ongoing basis and we recommend residents regularly check our website for any further changes to Council services, as well as authoritative channels, such as federal and state health websites, for updated health advice.”

Mosman Mayor Cr Carolyn Corrigan said she was hopeful that the local community would ensure the most vulnerable residents would not be further disadvantaged during the current circumstances.

“Vulnerable members of the community may need help from family, friends and neighbours and I’m confident that our residents will be proactive in checking in on our elderly and isolated community members by phone or email to ensure their wellbeing during this time,” Cr Corrigan said.

“It’s really about us all looking after each other particularly given this outbreak comes in the wake of such devastating drought and fires.”
