New boardwalk completes missing link to Mosman

Posted on Tuesday 25 October 2022

A new boardwalk featuring specially commissioned artwork has been officially opened in Mosman, completing the missing link for walkers and cyclists between Balmoral Beach, Sydney Harbour National Park and Taronga Zoo.

Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan and Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson cut the ribbon on the newly completed boardwalk, joined by Department of Planning and Environment Commissioner Open Space Fiona Morrison and artist Maddison Gibbs.

The completed project is one of four being delivered in the Mosman area under the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program in collaboration with Mosman Council.

Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said the new boardwalk links up walking trails, beaches, landmarks, and historical artefacts at Bradleys Head, with lookout views to North Head and Middle Harbour.

“We are also excited about the sculptures which line the walkway, created by award-winning Indigenous artist Maddison Gibbs, evoking caring figures watching over the land and sea,” Cr Corrigan said.

Ms Wilson said: “This project has been designed and built with sustainability front of mind, using more than 100 recycled tyres and low carbon concrete, while also minimising the impacts on trees”.
