Outcome of Bathers’ Pavilion tender announced
Mosman Council has announced the successful applicant of the public tender for the next lease of the Balmoral Bathers’ Pavilion is incumbent Serge Dansereau.
The current lease expires at the end of this year and complying tenders for the lease and management of the venue from next year were received from four companies. The decision follows a thorough evaluation of the applications by a panel involving independent and high level advisors.
Mosman Council General Manager Dominic Johnson said the rigour of the evaluation process ensured the best outcome for the area and the community. “Bathers’ Pavilion is a unique and special venue, situated in one of Sydney’s most popular foreshore locations. Selecting the new leaseholder necessitated a thorough, robust and independent appraisal of a number of factors including the proposed business model, industry expertise, economic viability and the amenity of the area,” he said.
“Applications were assessed in great detail, and the one put forward by Mr Dansereau and his team was determined to offer the best outcome on all fronts. We are assured that he will continue to provide a leading, high quality dining establishment that is popular with locals and visitors alike, and operate a business that is in keeping with the amenity and environment of the surrounding area.”
Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan added that Mosman Council was pleased Mr Dansereau had been successful in obtaining the new lease. “We are very pleased with this outcome. Serge is a well-known Mosman local and a highly experienced and accomplished restaurateur. He is to be commended for his operation of The Bathers’ Pavilion under the current lease. Under his stewardship it has made a wonderful contribution to the community, and we are confident this will continue to be the case.”
The lease will be renewed for a 20 year term to run from 2020 to 2039, and commence effective from 1 January 2020.
