Residents celebrate Mosman Junction opening

Mosman Councillors and local business operators were joined by about 2000 residents to celebrate the opening of new outdoor dining and pedestrian-friendly areas following the completion of the Mosman Junction Upgrade project.

The major upgrade included the provision of two alfresco dining areas, improvements to the roundabout and the installation of new pedestrian crossings at Middle Head Road, Bradleys Head Road and Prince Albert Street, to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility, with lighting, seating and landscaping also being enhanced.

Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan welcomed residents to the revamped space before officially launching it by cutting the ribbon near Yachiyo restaurant and Three Beans – one of the two alfresco areas.

“Council’s public consultations showed a very strong desire for this upgrade and I’m sure residents and businesses alike will appreciate these new purpose-built spaces and improved pedestrian access in the area, which have created this safe, functional and vibrant hub,” Cr Corrigan said.

Following the official proceedings, attendees sampled free food including pizzas, canapes and fresh oysters and prawns by The Buena, takoyaki, and spicy chicken balls by Yachiyo and Mexican chicken bowls and gluten-free brownies by Three Beans to the sound of live music from the Mosman-based Jacques Emery Band. Younger patrons were also catered for, decorating all 370 cupcakes before consuming them and enjoying face painting by a team of three face painters.

Nearly $400 was raised on the night for Council’s R U Aware We Care appeal for drought-affected areas including Mosman’s Friendship Community, Glen Innes Severn Council.
