Swim Centre renovations unveiled
Mosman Swim Centre has been reopened in time for the 2020/21 summer swimming season following the completion of major refurbishment works.
The six-lane 25m pool and facilities are now fully accessible following upgrades to the change rooms, new furniture and fittings have been installed and water features and fountains updated in the children’s play area.
Extensive tiling, painting and drainage works were carried out and electrical and mechanical system upgrades have increased the centre’s energy efficiency.
“The reopening of this state-of-the-art centre marks our final major capital works project for 2020, which was jam-packed with completions of new and updated facilities, including the new Balmoral Oval multipurpose hardcourt, Balmoral Jetty and Raglan Street West toilet facilities as well as numerous other outdoor upgrades,” Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said.
“Visitation has increased at the swim centre by an impressive 50 per cent over the past 15 years with close to 160,000 visitors passing through its doors in 2018/19.
“These extensive renovations mean this important facility will continue to serve our community for many years to come.”
Planned refurbishment works to address deterioration and safety issues at the Council-owned centre on Vista Street were brought forward during COVID-19 restrictions to minimise disruptions.
The pool is used for a range of activities such as recreational use, swimming classes and school events.
