“Wee…need your help!”

Mosman Council has thrown its support behind a community-led project to provide more accessible toilet facilities at Mosman Junction.

The cheekily-titled ‘Wee…need your help!’ campaign by members of Mosman’s local Access and Mobility Committee is aiming to attract funding for new toilets adjacent to the Raglan Street West carpark in Mosman.

Funding for the project has been sought from the NSW Government’s ‘My Community Project’ program. The allocation of funding under this program is determined by public vote, which is currently open until 15 August 2019.

‘Improved toilet facilities at Mosman Junction would be fantastic’, Mosman Mayor and Chair of the Access and Mobility Committee, Carolyn Corrigan said.

‘Accessible toilet facilities are especially important for our older residents, people who are less mobile or who have children to care for. Renewing and improving the facilities at Mosman Junction will make visits to Mosman’s shopping village much more enjoyable and easier for everyone.’

Mosman resident Margaret Evans agrees with these sentiments. ‘This would make all the difference in the world and would be much appreciated,’ Margaret said.

There are several local projects vying for funding under the program and Councillor Corrigan recognises that all projects submitted by the community have merit. ‘It’s great that people are taking advantage of this new program being offered by the NSW Government and public voting is a new and novel way of allocating funding. Our Committee knows the huge benefits of providing more accessible public facilities, and that’s why our members so keen to make use of the funding on offer.’

All public voting is online via the website and you must be at least 16 years of age and have a Medicare card to vote. You also need to have a Service NSW account, which you can sign up to when you go online.

The Mosman Junction Accessible Toilets project can be voted on by all residents of the NSW Electorate of North Shore. If funded, the new facilities will be delivered by Mosman Council as project sponsor.
