Bush track upgrade
A scenic bushwalking track in Quakers Hat Park near Beauty Point which overlooks Middle Harbour will be upgraded with works to improve an existing raised walkway and the addition of new decking, sandstone steps and handrails to improve safety and accessibility.
The track helps protect surrounding native vegetation by reducing impact from people walking in the area and works will include several sustainability features such as incorporating long-lasting construction material on the raised walkway which allows light to penetrate to the soil and sandstone steps to help reduce the effects of water erosion.
The upgrade to the bushwalking track, which is designed to improve access and recreational opportunities in the area, will be equally funded by a $30,000 grant under the NSW government’s Places to Roam – Regional Trails Program and Mosman Council.
Council is also receiving a helping hand to maintain its popular jetties at Balmoral and Clifton Gardens.
A grant from the NSW government's Boating Asset Maintenance Sub-Program will see $60,000 go towards fixing and repairing the two jetties.
Maintenance works, including the re-application of anti-slip paint and the repair of timber railing and fixtures, will help ensure that the jetties remain fit for purpose and safe for the use and enjoyment of the local community.
