Boardwalk opens

Posted on Friday 21 October 2022

A new boardwalk featuring specially commissioned artwork has been officially opened by Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan and Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson MP, filling in the ‘missing link’ to Taronga Zoo wharf and the Bondi to Manly walk.

Sustainable elements have been built into the project, with about 100 recycled tyres used in the footpath’s permeable paving and concrete path which was made from low carbon concrete.

The new walkway includes lighting and steel sculptures by award-winning Indigenous artist Maddison Gibbs, evoking spirit figures caring for the land and sea that can be seen along the boardwalk.

The works were funded by the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program together with Mosman Council.
