Get to know your neighbours this Easter
Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, held on the last Sunday of March each year and is the perfect day to say thanks for being a great neighbour, connect with new neighbours and feel part of the community.
With local community groups, Mosman Council is promoting neighbourliness by encouraging residents to celebrate in their own way, such as having a chat with the people next door, inviting new neighbours in for a cup of tea, organising a neighbourhood barbecue, or dropping in an Easter egg.
The aim is to build better relationships with the people who live around us, of all generations and backgrounds.
Neighbours are important because good relationships with others can positively influence our quality of life, and can and do change communities for the better. Social connection can help prevent loneliness, isolation and depression. It helps make our streets and neighbourhoods safer.
While we have this annual day to celebrate, remember every day is neighbour day
