Mayor Councillor Corrigan presented a Mayoral Minute relating to the devastating fires that have impacted communities around NSW and across Australia. In particular, the area of Glen Innes Severn, with which Mosman has a Friendship Agreement, has been badly effected with loss of lives and many properties including the home of Mayor Carol Sparks. Council unanimously agreed that Mayor Corrigan speak with Mayor Sparks to confirm the most effective way Mosman can render support and assistance to the Glen Innes Severn community.

Council resolved to adopt all documents, incorporating changes made following the public consultation period and including revised hire fees for outdoor netball courts at Drill Hall Common.

The Mayor paid tribute to Max Glyde who has retired from his position as Director, Corporate Services after 38 years of service. The Mayor acknowledged Max’s major achievements including the implementation of pay and display parking on Council’s foreshore reserves, bus shelter and advertising contracts and the initiation of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee, and praised his dedication, professionalism and thoroughness.

Mayor Carolyn Corrigan informed the meeting that Council’s innovative MyMosman resident app had been formally recognised during Local Government Week 2018, winning its category in the prestigious RH Dougherty Awards for Excellence in Communication. MyMosman was developed completely in-house, and the Mayor congratulated staff involved in bringing the project to fruition.

Council met to consider the implications of the judgment handed down by Justice Tim Moore in the case of Mosman Municipal Council v Minister for Local Government  NSWLEC 124 on 20 September 2016. It was agreed at the meeting that Council maintain its long standing opposition to forced amalgamation and continue to work with its legal team to maintain Mosman’s independence.
