The countdown has begun for our Year 12 students with the 2020 HSC forever staking its place in the history books. I know I speak on behalf of the entire community when I wish all students the very best of luck for a successful start to the exam period. October as Small Business Month concentrates our attention on Mosman’s Chamber of Commerce Think Mosman First campaign. Its ongoing success will be largely due to your continued support of our wonderful local businesses.
Council was thrilled to welcome the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services, Gareth Ward, for the recent official opening of the Raglan Street West accessible facilities and I was delighted when the Minister accepted my offer to also visit Clifton Gardens. Minister Ward was briefed by Council’s Engineering Manager and was impressed by the area’s sheer beauty and Council’s focus on making its park and play areas fully accessible.
The warmer weather has significantly increased traffic in and around Mosman. Our beaches and parklands will be put under significant pressure and Council rangers will do their utmost to monitor and manage crowd control to comply with current COVID restrictions. This will be a constant challenge so please stay calm and remain courteous at all times as they go about their job.
Council’s longstanding priority to protect the visual significance of our foreshore landscapes is the subject of an extensive community consultation. Council is currently seeking feedback from all affected landowners whose properties sit within the Scenic Protection zone and planning staff are available to answer any of your questions. In a fitting finale, the remarkable, courageous and resilient late US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who died last week provided an example we can all aspire to follow: “Fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you”.
