Mosman’s Access and Mobility Committee, in partnership with many of our residents, deserve rich praise for securing $200,000 funding from the NSW Government for the fully accessible refurbishment of the Raglan St West Carpark toilets. I welcome this opportunity to publicly thank community members Pip Friedrich, Steve Goudie, Nell Rickard and former member Tony Friend and my fellow Committee member, Cr Jacqui Willoughby. The project was proudly sponsored by Mosman Council, which will deliver the much-needed project.

The biennial Festival of Mosman opens in spectacular style with our Balmoral Beach Concert on Friday 18 October and continues at a cracking pace for the next 10 days with a chock-a-block program that will delight, entertain and educate all age groups. The Festival is organised by Mosman Council with terrific support from many of our wonderful local community groups and businesses.

The Mosman Art Prize exhibition is among the Festival highlights. I enjoyed attending the opening night earlier this month and would encourage residents to join me Sunday 20 October for the Mosman Art Prize Highlights Tour: visit mosmanartgallery.org.au.

October is Small Business Month and the good news, courtesy of Mosman’s Chamber of Commerce, is that more new small businesses are coming into the area. There are over 600 businesses in Mosman, providing business diversity, vibrancy, personality and financial stability to our village.

For our new residents, Mosman Council has relaunched a digital version of its New Residents Guide to Mosman, featuring new content and links to handy services: mosman.nsw.gov.au/guide.

The ever-popular HSC Lock-In student nights at the Barry O’Keefe Library start on Wednesday 9 October with the library opening for an extra 2.5 hours on selected nights. The countdown has started with exams commencing on 17 October and I know I speak on behalf of the entire community when I say the very best of luck to all students.
