From the Mayor - 27 June 2019
Council is delighted with the number of residents who have already obtained their new digital 2019/20 Foreshore Parking Permits online through vPermit. For any resident needing assistance Council’s staff in the Mosman Civic Centre foyer are on hand to help. I appreciate that change can deliver challenges but Council is keen to continue innovating and adapting to new technologies.
Mosman’s Local Strategic Planning Statement is on public exhibition and open for comment until 7 August. This sets out our 20 year vision for land use planning in Mosman and is closely aligned with Council’s Community Strategic Plan and Local Environmental Plan. In other planning news, exhibition of the DA for the new Allan Border Oval Pavilion closes today and will proceed to final determination by the Mosman Local Planning Panel (MLPP). This upgrade is a once in a lifetime opportunity and Council appreciates resident feedback on this significant community development. I need to mention and acknowledge the extreme disappointment of parents and staff that Council’s plans for a child care centre at Balmoral Oval were thwarted at the final stage of regulatory assessment and this means that pending determination of the Pavilion DA, MOCC will close in December 2019. Council is doing everything it can to find opportunities for occasional care through other local care providers.
One of the joys of being Mayor is to write on behalf of the community and congratulate Mosman recipients of the Order of Australia. Ten residents were honoured with a 50/50 split of women and men – a first as far as I can remember.
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is currently underway in France but I imagine many residents are not aware the IFCPF (CP standing for cerebral palsy) World Cup is about to get underway in Spain. Mosman’s own Ben Sutton is one of 14 players selected to represent Australia, and on behalf of the entire community I wish him and the team every success.
