Mid-Year Update

Posted on Thursday 31 May 2018

As we approach the end of financial year and the halfway mark for 2018 I have much positive news to share with you.

Community feedback to MOSPLAN has been welcomed and will be considered when the final documents are brought to Council on 5 June.

The strength of our community glue was very evident on 23 May when I hosted afternoon tea at Gunners Barracks for many of our fantastic volunteers. Special awards were given for long service and I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge Gill Stemp who has accrued a remarkable 34 years of continuous community service for Mosman Meals.

The winter works program at Balmoral is well underway and represents the final stage of the refurbishment of the promenade. Community and visitors handled the disruption with aplomb and in glorious sunshine embraced the 18th annual Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn taking to those 420 uphill metres with gusto and determination.

The Mosman Junction upgrade works are nearing the halfway mark and I again want to thank the community for your understanding and co-operation during this period of major construction.

As Sydney Harbour comes alive at night to the stunning Vivid light shows, don’t forget to put aside time for a must-see visit to Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo. The remarkable display of animal light sculptures will finish on 16 June.

I want to take this opportunity to again remind residents that the Mosman Rider will cease service on 30 June and on Monday 2 July Council will launch a new door-to-door transport service, A to B Mosman, for eligible Mosman residents.

I have written to the Minister for Transport asking for additional bus services to Beauty Point. I will continue to pursue this matter and will keep you informed as to my progress.

Lastly, Council will hold its first domestic violence workshop for 2018 on Thursday 7 June. This free community event, will be held in conjunction with a number of stakeholders and details can be found at events.mosman.nsw.gov.au.
